Heasley Escapes Again

Heasley Escapes Again

Jason Heasley has somehow managed to slip through the fingers of law enforcement and escape from the Beadle County Jail in Huron for a second time.

It happened early this morning when authorities say Heasley and another inmate made their get-away shortly before 2:00 AM.

They stole a vehicle that eventually turned up in Arlington, but authorities are still looking for Heasley and the other man. Heasley has ties to the Arlington area.

Police believe the two men may now be driving a green 1994 GMC pickup with South Dakota license plates 6AS-707.

Heasley first made news in October of 2003 for stealing a pickup and leading police on a cross-county chase. He and his pregnant girlfriend were eventually arrested and charged with having meth and a stolen vehicle.

A few days later, Heasley escaped from the Beadle County jail for the first time and was found almost a month later, hiding in an attic of a central Sioux Falls home.

Twenty-four-year-old Justin Mynatt was the other man who escaped with Heasley. He was to be sentenced today on drug charges.
