You'll find a lot of cars in grocery store parking lots Wednesday night, as people make a final trip to the store before the big holiday meal.
This is among a handful of huge shopping days at grocery stores. At HyVee on 49th Street and Louise Avenue in Sioux Falls, that’s no exception.
The crowds start in the parking lot and continue inside the store. All 15 check-out lines have lines at them. That shows you just how big of a grocery shopping day Wednesday is.
And people at HyVee are getting everything from their major Thanksgiving items and to their last minute items, whether it’s the turkey or the cranberries.
And the good news, all these items will cost you about the same this year as it did last year. According to the experts, you’ll pay just 28 cents more than last year.
The estimated cost for this year's basic Thanksgiving meal, meaning the turkey and trimmings is just under $50. That's just the basics though. Many of these people are buying much more than that.
As people head to the grocery store from work, it’s expected to get busier. But, many grocery stores are open late Wednesday night and even on Thanksgiving Day.
