Governor Speaks At Wind Farm Dedication
October 16, 2008, 11:48 AM
Governor Mike Rounds credited the developers, Wessington Springs officials and landowners for their support of a wind farm project.
The 34-turbine wind farm near Wessington Springs is expected to produce 51 megawatts of energy per year after it officially goes online next month.
Rounds says that's enough to power 17,498 homes.
The governor says he thinks South Dakota will be producing 289 megawatts of wind power by 2009. He says more than a dozen other projects are under development in the state.
