State officials are sending more inmates out west to help clean up the Black Hills.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard sent a crew of 20 minimum-security Department of Corrections inmates to the Rapid City area last week. Now, he's sending an additional 40. 20 inmates will help out the city of Sturgis. The others will assist in Belle Fourche.
Daugaard ordered the inmates to help out the communities at the request of local officials.
Many communities still have a lot of clean up to do after the October 4 blizzard, which knocked down power lines and trees in the area.
