Gov. Daugaard Requests Presidential Disaster Declaration

Gov. Daugaard Requests Presidential Disaster Declaration

Governor Dennis Daugaard has requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration because of tornado and flooding damage in the month of June.

The Declaration will help those whose homes and businesses were damaged in the severe weather. If approved, FEMA offers a range of programs that will help residents that have been impacted.

Federal, state and local teams assessed the damage to homes and businesses in Jerauld, Lincoln and Union Counties. Gov. Daugaard based his decision for the request on what the teams found.

The request does not guarantee that federal funding will be available for South Dakota Citizens.
