RAPID CITY, SD -
The South Dakota Republican Party will return to Rapid City to host its state convention in 2014.
GOP state executive director Tony Post says this is the first time in more than three decades that the city will host the convention.
The 400 Republican delegates and their families are expected to attend the convention scheduled for June 19-21, 2014, at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn and Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Delegates will consider the party platform, by-laws and nominations for certain offices.
There will also be planning for the November 2014 election, which includes the governor's race.
Rapid City beat out other communities because of the strong bid offered by the Rapid City Convention and Visitors Bureau.
