Golfers Take Advantage Of Warm Winter Day

Golfers Take Advantage Of Warm Winter Day
SIOUX FALLS, SD - The calendar may say January, but Thursday, it felt more like spring.

While many people were stuck inside working, others played hooky.

Golfers had to wait for tee times at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls. And it wasn't just folks from Sioux Falls taking advantage of our unseasonably warm temperatures. Golfers from Canada made the eight-hour trek across the border to tee off.

A Winnipeg newspaper ran a story earlier this week telling golfers to forget about going to Florida and head to Elmwood to practice their swings.

"We sent out a press release to the northern towns and got a call from the Winnipeg Free Press and they did a nice article with a picture and an interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. We got a dozen players that came down from that neck of the woods for today and tomorrow," Elmwood Golf Course President Tom Jansa said.

It was a lucky day on the links for one player at Elmwood when they got a hole in one.

If you didn't get a chance to golf on Thursday, don't worry.

Elmwood is planning to stay open through next Tuesday. You are encouraged to call ahead for tee times.
