The girlfriend of a Sioux Falls murder victim is facing several drug charges for possessing the prescription drugs Oxycontin and Xanax, as well as marijuana.
Faith Rasmussen, 20, was the girlfriend of 20-year-old Jordan LeBeau who was shot and killed during a botched robbery in his Sioux Falls home at the beginning of December.
Court documents say Rasmussen recruited LeBeau and others to sell marijuana for her in the Sioux Falls area. Several witnesses told Sioux Falls Police that Rasmussen is the supplier of marijuana and would receive large shipments from Texas.
Investigators say Rasmussen had LeBeau sell marijuana for her because he ‘knew how to manage the money.’ After LeBeau was shot and killed, more than $88,000 was found in his Sioux Falls home, as well as marijuana.
Two Watertown teens were arrested and charged with murdering LeBeau on December 3, 2013. Investigators believe LeBeau’s business partner Kevin Rice recruited 18-year-old Brian David Anderson and 17-year-old Trevor Kruthoff to rob LeBeau. The teens shot and killed LeBeau after they got into a fight with LeBeau when his father walked in on the robbery.
Documents say Rice was also dating and selling marijuana for Rasmussen.
Rasmussen did not comment following her initial court appearance on the drug charges Wednesday.
