Pheasant hunters should be aware of the dry conditions as they take to the fields this weekend.
Grass fires can happen almost daily. And the Game Warden in Gregory County is asking hunters to be especially careful where they park their vehicles.
"Be extra careful, especially on the section lines. A lot of these section lines are still tall with grass. If you get that grass under your vehicle, you start fires pretty easy,” Gregory County Game, Fish & Parks Officer Hans Walleser
The pheasant opener for South Dakota residents hunting on public land, is Saturday at noon.
