Gettysburg Country Club Hosts Memorial Scramble

August 30, 2014, 6:00 PM by Leland Steva

Gettysburg Country Club Hosts Memorial Scramble
GETTYSBURG, SD -

The Gettysburg County Club is hosting a memorial today for Donald "DJ" Fischer, who was one of the four men that died in the April plane crash near Highmore.

Nearly 150 golfers teed off today for the DJ Grip It and Sip It Memorial Scramble.

Golfers hit the links for a 9-hole round. There also is tailgating events, including this RV that the Fischer family used to tailgate for Fischer's game at SDSU. The money from the event will go towards a scholarship fund set up in Fischer's name that will go to one Gettysburg Senior. More importantly, it's about remembering the man who meant so much to this community.

"He was a young up and coming cornerstone of the community. Anything to make it better," Tyrone Kraft said.

Event organizers estimate that the event will raise over 30,000 dollars.

We will have much more from Gettysburg coming up tonight on KELOLAND Weekend News at 10.
