Emma Hanson scored 28 points to power Sioux Falls Washington to a 52-40 first-round victory on Thursday over Sioux Falls O'Gorman at the South Dakota girls Class AA basketball tournament.
Hanson connected on 11 of 13 field goal attempts, including four of five from three-point range. She also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for the second-seeded Warriors (21-2). Washington outscored O'Gorman 31-15 in the second half after trailing 25-21 at the half.
Hannah Nieman added nine points and sank three of Washington's eight three-pointers in the win. O'Gorman (14-10) was paced by Kate Cartwright, who sank four three-pointers to finish with 12 points.
