Kristin Sabers scored 15 points as the Mitchell Kernels started fast and eased to a 54-43 win over Rapid City Central on Thursday at the South Dakota Class AA girls basketball tournament.
Mitchell (21-3) raced out to an 18-10 lead after one quarter. But the Cobblers (14-8) hung around, pulling within 41-35 after three quarters. Mitchell pulled away down the stretch to earn a berth in the state semifinals.
Sabers was 6-for-10 from the field and added seven rebounds. Macy Miller added 14 points and Kerri Young 11.
Mitchell shot 55 percent from the field and hit four of seven three-pointers.
Taylor Bauer paced The Cobblers with 14 points. Tori Holt led Central in rebounding with seven.
