De Smet built an early lead and advanced to the championship game of the South Dakota girls Class B basketball tournament on Friday with a 47-36 semifinal victory over Hanson.
The second-seeded Bulldogs built a 26-15 halftime lead. Amanda Poppen and Grayson Gruenhagen combined for 25 points and eight rebounds. Poppen finished with 13 points and five rebounds, while Gruenhagen added 12 points and three rebounds.
Rylie Osthus added nine points and five rebounds for De Smet (24-1), which shot 55 percent from the field and held the Beaverettes to 40 percent.
Kynedi Cheeseman led Hanson (22-3) with 10 points.
