Driving a car from place to place is how many in KELOLAND rely on transportation and some go further than others.
"Being this is my fourth trip to South Dakota in the last four weekends to go turkey hunting, yeah it gets a little higher in gas prices," Casey Hatch said.
Hatch is from Austin, Minnesota and lately he says he had felt the pressure at the pump.
"You got to pinch here and there do what you can," Hatch said.
According to AAA, gas prices are at its highest level in seven months. The average in South Dakota is $3.57.
Hatch says even with the rise in prices it's not going to change his plans very much now, but it could be a different story if prices inch closer to $4.00 a gallon.
"I think gas prices going up definitely has an effect on things, but you have to pay to play," Hatch said.
As for Jeanne Milliken from Sioux Falls, she says higher gas prices may bring her summer travel to a screeching halt.
"I had plans to go to northern Minnesota for Memorial Day and, yeah it's going to cost a lot more than I thought," Milliken said.
While there may be some pain at the pump, some say this is cheaper than other modes of transportation.
"Cheaper than flying, that's right," Hatch said.
According to AAA, the national average is $3.66 dollars per gallon. It’s seven cents more than a week ago and 14 cents more than a month ago.
