With highs this week in KELOLAND reaching the 60s and even 70s which is 20 to 30 degrees above average, it almost seems as if we can say goodbye to colder weather. But we can't completely forget about freezing temperatures just yet.
The average last day of at or below freezing temperatures in KELOLAND is May 2nd for the Sioux Falls area. However, we've seen freezing weather as late as May 11 for the Rapid City area. Last year, KELOLAND saw freezing temperatures on May 11 in the west and May 12 in central and east.
So even though the high temperatures look like they will even out into the 40s over the next 2 weeks, the low temperatures have a long way to go before they start to average above freezing.
