Four Residents Sentenced In Immigration Case
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Four western South Dakota residents have been sentenced for immigration-related crimes stemming from fraudulent contracts with the U.S. Forest Service.

The individuals from Rapid City were sentenced for their roles in a five-year conspiracy to harbor people living in the country illegally so that the immigrants could perform contract work for the federal agency.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says the four people committed their crimes between January 2008 and May 2013.

Twenty-eight-year-old Christina Pourier, 25-year-old Rogelio Escalante Jr., and 25-year-old Raul Munoz, all of Rapid City, were sentenced for continuing unlawful employment of aliens.

The 49-year-old Sergio Munoz-Escalante, of Hermosa, was sentenced for false statement.

Only Munoz-Escalante will serve prison time.

Six other people have been sentenced in connection with this case.
