A century-old Deadwood building that was in danger of collapsing a few years ago has found new life as a hotel.
Officials in 2011 closed sidewalks in the vicinity of the Pineview Building because they feared it was unsafe. The building built in 1902 had been vacant for more than two decades.
A development company invested millions of dollars in a three-year renovation project, and opened a 42-room hotel earlier this month called The Hotel by Gold Dust.
General Manager Amber Diers says "it's an old building returned to life."
