The Sioux Empire Fair Association is suing its former executive director over gifts he allegedly received from an employee who paid for them with money she embezzled.
Thirty-six-year-old Matt Adamski resigned as director early last year, before it was revealed that his office manager, Kathy Gourley, used some of the $648,000 she stole from the fair to buy him gifts.
The lawsuit says those gifts included paying of medical bills and vacations in Las Vegas and Florida.
A phone number listed for Adamski has been disconnected. Adamski never faced criminal charges and a spokeswoman for the state attorney general's office says no criminal charges are pending.
The lawsuit is the latest legal fallout from the scandal, which sent the fair into a financial tailspin near the end of 2008 and eventually earned Gourley a 15-year prison sentence.
