A former Sioux Falls mayoral candidate who was focused on diversity, educating the public and being the straight-forward voice of the citizens has died.
Janoct Ajda died of an unknown illness in his Sioux Falls home Sunday according to friends. Ajda was 64 years old.
Ajda ran for mayor in 2006 and 2010. He raised little to no money for his campaigns and ran as a common man.
"I'm a fixer. I restore things," Ajda posted on his mayoral facebook page in 2010 shortly before the election.
A funeral is planned for Ajda at 1:30 p.m. Saturday December 14th at Miller Funeral Chapel in Sioux Falls. Visitation is Friday starting at noon, with family present from 5 p.m. - 7p.m. at Miler Funeral Home.
One of Ajda's friends, Mike Haskett, is collecting donations to cover funeral expenses at his downtown business M.B. Haskett Delicatessen.
