Former Opponent Discusses Janklow's Work Ethic
January 12, 2012, 8:34 PM
Bill Janklow had a lot of political opponents throughout the years. Democrat Bernie Hunhoff was the last one to run against Governor Janklow in 1998.
Thursday night he joins KELOLAND Ben Dunsmoor in Pierre where Bernie is still working today.
Hunhoff is the minority leader of the House.
"I worked against him but also with him. He was just an amazing leader, there's no doubt about that. He was forceful. So many politicians these days, and even in his days, so many politicians take the safe route. They do polls and they figure out some safe issues. And that wasn't Bill Janklow. And I give him all the credit in the world. I don't know if he ever read a poll. He sure didn't act like it. He would take on any issue not matter what, how popular or unpopular and just give it all he had and just plunge head first," Hunhoff said.
