Former ND Gov. To Give Speech At SD Oil Conference

Former North Dakota Gov. Ed Schafer will be the keynote speaker at a one-day conference in Rapid City this week about the Bakken oil boom and opportunities for western South Dakota businesses.

Schafer will speak at 8 a.m. on Tuesday at the conference, which is sponsored by Hegg Companies Inc. of Sioux Falls and the Law Bulletin Publishing Company of Chicago.

Schafer was governor of North Dakota from 1992 to 2000. He served in 2008 as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. He serves on the Board of Directors for Continental Resources, Inc., one of the largest and most active oil exploration and production companies doing business in North Dakota.

The conference is being held at the Hilton Garden Inn. Pre-registration is $129.
