A former jailer in Fall River County who fled the state following allegations that he raped a female inmate has been apprehended in Ohio.
An official in the Fall River County State’s Attorney’s office confirmed Tuesday that Anthony Peet, 30, of Oral, was arrested Saturday in Bryan, Ohio, after authorities in Fall River County issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge that he raped the female inmate in January.
“It was good news,” Fall River County Sheriff Rich Mraz said of Peet’s arrest. “We’re going to get him extradited and get him back here so he can face the charges.”
Mraz said Peet was employed for about eight months at the Fall River County Jail in Hot Springs. The jail also takes prisoners from Shannon County. The alleged victim has been released from the jail, the sheriff said.
Mraz said it’s particular disturbing when a corrections officer ends up charged with a serious crime.
