A former Sioux Falls day care provider is expected to change her plea to guilty Thursday afternoon after a four-month-old girl died in her care in the summer of 2011.
Connie Edwards was charged with child abuse and neglect and making a false report to police after they investigated the death of four-month-old Meredith Ulmer.
Ulmer died at Edwards' day care and while the death was ruled accidental, Edwards was charged because investigators discovered she had 24 children in her care that day and she is only allowed to have 12.
Investigators also say Edwards left 15 of the children with two unregistered workers while she took the other nine to Wild Water West.
Edwards change of plea hearing is scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday.
