Former Coach Remembers Jackrabbits

Former Coach Remembers Jackrabbits
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Before they were Jackrabbits, both Rachel Walters and Ashley Eide played for a much smaller crowd in Sioux Falls. Their former high school coach says he is proud to watch these former Washington Warriors Girls Basketball players turn into superstars.

"We'll always claim them as Warrior's here at our school," Washington Warriors Girls Basketball Head Coach Nate Malchow said.

Washington Warriors Girls Basketball Head Coach Nate Malchow coached Rachel Walters and Ashley Eide through high school and years later, Malchow is still gushing over his two former players.

"In our program we're so proud of them as coaches and everybody involved in our program," Malchow said.

From the Washington High School Basketball court to the big dance, Malchow says he isn't surprised to see his players succeed.

"As a school we are very proud of these two kids and what they did for us, not only when they were here at Washington High School but what they've gone on to do at a larger scale," Malchow said.

Malchow says the down to earth players are great representatives for Washington High School, SDSU, and the rest of South Dakota.

"Dreams can come true through hard work and through a great attitude and these two girls have certainly earned that," Malchow said.

In addition to two Washington High School graduates, the Jackrabbits also have two seniors who played together in Pierre.
