Mitchell-native Mike Miller is celebrating his first NBA title with the Miami Heat. And he had plenty of support from his hometown fans.
One of Miller's biggest supporters is his former high school coach Gary Munsen.
Munsen watched every second of Thursday night's game as Miami topped the Oklahoma City Thunder for the title.
Miller poured in a personal series best 23 points, including seven three-pointers.
"He got introduced as the starting small forward in the NBA (finals). I had a hard time handling it. I had tears, I had goosebumps. You stop and think about it; it's an amazing thing for a guy from South Dakota to start with," Munsen said.
Miller is actually the second South Dakotan to win an NBA title. The last one was Britton-native Med Park of the St. Louis Hawks back in 1958.
