It's only been six months, but Flyboy Donuts has already made a big impact on the south side of Sioux Falls, attracting many people from all walks of life and especially families.
"I think anytime you can come with the family, grab a cup of coffee, read the newspaper and hang out with your family, it's a great thing to have, so it's really a great family place," customer Lisa White said.
Lisa White brought her son Jack to Flyboy Donuts to celebrate a big day and for him it couldn't be a better place.
"Because they have such a variety of donuts, they have bacon donuts and apple swirl donuts, so if you like bacon or apple then you should come here to eat that," customer Jack White said.
This kind of enthusiasm is what made Kari Hoff, co-owner of Flyboy Donuts, open the shop in the first place and now it’s exactly why they are expanding.
"It's more than we expected. We knew there would be some donut enthusiasm and that people like donuts. We just didn't realize how much and we are so glad this location has worked out and we are glad to be here," Hoff said.
So, now the kitchen expansion begins at Flyboy.
"It was our intention right from the get go, when we purchased the business we knew we wanted to expand and move to be more based here because obviously we are serving more people than in Tea," Hoff said.
With construction though, sometimes come challenges, which is why Hoff and the Flyboy team hope you will have patience.
"Over the next few weeks bear with us as we are going through construction, we may have to shut down at times when we don't want dust on our donuts and such," Hoff said.
Construction is expected to be completed in three weeks. One major highlight to the new kitchen is they will now be able to serve breakfast sandwiches and other foods.
