Flu cases are on the rise in South Dakota.
State department of health officials say 21 new cases were reported just last week. That brings the total to 41 cases so far this season.
State epidemiologist Dr. Lon Kightlinger says flu activity in the state has now reached what officials call a "sporadic" level.
So far this season, seven people have been hospitalized and one influenza-associated death has been reported.
Officials strongly encourage those who have not gotten the flu shot to do so.
