Now that it's officially spring, a lot of people begin to worry about flooding.
This is National Flood Safety Awareness week. Representatives from FEMA and the National Weather Service are holding a public meeting tonight to talk about the flood outlook in this area and how to best prepare for it.
Flooding is far and away the most common disaster and there are steps people can take now to prevent damages that may occur down the road," Jerry DeFelice of FEMA said.
One of those steps is to buy flood insurance. You can learn more at that FEMA meeting that begins at 5:30 pm at the Oyate Community Center. It's free and open to the public. For other flood information click here.
