People in Flandreau paid a bricks-and-mortar tribute to the late Governor Bill Janklow on Friday.
They've re-named Flandreau's Community Center and Armory in honor of Janklow, who died of brain cancer in January.
Janklow's family says he would have been embarrassed about a building being named after him, but his hometown community center was the right match.
“And it doesn't make any difference whether you're Republican, Democrat or Independent, this is a place for citizens of Flandreau to come and get together so it has nothing to do with politics, but it's more about community,” Janklow’s son Russ Janklow said.
Then-Governor Bill Janklow spoke at the building's dedication when it opened back in 1985.
