If you build it, they will come. But in the case of the new Lake Lorraine commercial development, retailers are coming before the first strip mall is even built.
Van Buskirk Companies is developing the 90-acre commercial property around the man-made lake at 32nd Street and Marion Road.
Steve Van Buskirk tells KELOLAND News his company is drawing up plans for the first retail center for the development and already has three tenants who want to move in: a retailer, a gym and a bar and grill. Van Buskirk says his company hopes to break ground in six to eight weeks.
When completed by the end of the year, the new mall will have room for 24,000 feet of retail space.
Van Buskirk says it will take a decade to complete development at Lake Lorraine.
