First Look At Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Marquee

First Look At Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Marquee

This latest feature will have a bright future at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

Workers at Daktronics are putting the finishing touches on the outdoor marquee, the exterior digital billboard, you'll see hanging above the main entrance of the events center. When it is all done, the board will be 14 feet high and 48 feet wide.  The little details make it a sight to see. To see the big picture, all you have to do is connect the dots.

"Red, green and blue. We can get the full color spectrum. So, that, you looked at roughly about 281 trillion colors, I believe, we can make with that product," Daktronics Large Sports Venue Regional Sales Representative Matt Warnke said.

On Monday afternoon, workers were doing a color test to make sure each light worked. In total, there are 427,680 LED lights on the board.

"It's really bright, especially in the white. You have LEDs full-on," Warnke said.

All of those create four panels, which make the two pieces you see here. When crews install the marquee, one piece will stack on top of the other. It will be a blindingly brilliant first impression at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

"Being it's right in our backyard, it's very exciting.  We get a chance to show off our latest technology, but also enhance what we believe is going to be a great facility, not only for Sioux Falls, but for the upper-Midwest," Warnke said.

We are less than a year away from the big opening. As we see more pieces of the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center put into place, this is just the latest dot you can connect to the bigger picture.

"I think it is the big time. We are at the big time. This building is a multi-purpose facility that will really put Sioux Falls, I believe, on the map to compete for some of the larger acts around the nation," City of Sioux Falls Special Projects Manager Kendra Siemonsma said.
