Firework Sales Kick Off For State Residents Today

With just a week away from the Fourth of July, many firework stands are preparing to be busy as sales kick off Friday.

Safety is the most important thing to remember this holiday season as you and your family gets ready for the holiday. Kevin Lorenzen, the owner at Pyro City in Tea, says with more option and new technology, this season's fireworks will be better than ever before.

"Every year fireworks, the innovations gets better and better so the items are getting safer and the colors are getting better, the effects are getting crisper; it's a fantastic product this year," Lorenzen said.

Even though Lorenzen offers hundreds of options for firework fanatics, he says safety is key to having a fun Fourth, and it starts at the store.

"Safety first, that goes to ask for what you're looking for. Get some help so you know what's appropriate for your situation," Lorenzen said.

Another group is getting ready for the Fourth of July, the Tea Fire Department.

"In the past few years we've been fortunate we've had a few grass fires, minor calls, nothing major here lately, but we always amp up," First Assistant Fire Chief Steven Oberle said.

Oberle says the most important thing to remember when grabbing the firecrackers, common sense.

"Just be safe, use common sense, and don't do something you know you're not supposed to," Oberle said.
