Fire Reported In Dryer At Ethanol Plant

Shortly before noon Tuesday, Watertown fire crews responded to a fire in a corn dryer at the Glacial Lakes Energy ethanol plant. No injuries were reported.
Assistant Fire Chief Doug Kranz says an alert Glacial Lakes staff moved on the fire quickly. Kranz says the fire was in one of the larger corn dryers and that damage was limited to the dryer. He says the dryer appears structurally intact but the amount of damage is not known.
Traffic was restricted in and out of the plant Tuesday afternoon as firefighters cleaned up hot spots. Glacial Lakes Energy makes more than 100 million gallons of ethanol yearly.

The driver of the second vehicle, 28-year-old Ryan Hrubes, died along with passengers Theresa Schenzel, 59, and Tyler Schenzel, 54.

According to The Hope Center for Kids, Ty and Terri Schenzel were killed in a car crash earlier this week.
