A wind driven fire that was burning out of control in northern Nebraska just hours ago, has now been knocked down but it's far from out.
The fire started around 3 p.m. on Wednesday in southern South Dakota. It burned 3,000 acres before crossing into Nebraska.
At one point the small town of Crookston, Nebraska was evacuated.
But by 7:30 Wednesday night, firefighters had the flames contained and shifted their attention to putting out numerous hot spots.
Only an abandoned structure was lost to the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
