FAULKTON, SD -
The State Fire Marshal is investigating a grain elevator explosion that led to a man being airlifted to the hospital.
An employee of North Central Farmers Elevator says a lower level explosion blew out windows at its Faulkton site Friday afternoon.
Authorities are not yet releasing the name of the man airlifted to the hospital but Faulk County’s emergency manager says he is an elevator employee and suffered burns. Two other people went to the hospital in Faulkton as a precaution but have since been released.
Law enforcement evacuated a nearby elderly and low incoming housing unit after the explosion.
Authorities have not determined a cause.
