Deadwood's police chief says he's disturbed by a sharp rise in felony drug arrests.
Chief Kelly Fuller says arrests went from four in 2012 to 17 last year. Most of the arrests were tied to methamphetamine.
Fuller says police have made strides in curtailing synthetic drugs, but the use of meth and other illegal drugs appears to be on the rise. He says a lot of the activity is occurring in hotels, and it's important for police and the business community to work together.
Fuller says educating people about the dangers of meth also is important.
