Feeding South Dakota 'Shares Your Love'

February 14, 2014, 7:03 AM by Stephanie Gregory

Feeding South Dakota 'Shares Your Love'
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Feeding South Dakota is doing something a little different this year. The program is called "Share Your Love." It's about showing a loved one you care while also showing a child in the community you care, as well.

Feeding South Dakota feeds roughly 3,500 kids in need in the Sioux Falls area through the backpack program. Every weekend, the organization packs a backpack full of food for a child to take home. This Valentine's Day, for just $75 you can feed a child through the program while also showing your sweetheart you care.

"The $75 donation helps to not only provide their loved one with a rose and a Valentine's Day card, but most importantly, it's ensuring that a child has food over the weekend for that entire semester of school," Kerri DeGraff with Feeding South Dakota said.

This Valentine's Day, people aren’t just sharing the love to one child, but to as many as they can.

"Many individuals are not only sponsoring one child, but they are sponsoring a couple children through their donation. So, that has been really fun to see," DeGraff said.

With a few dozen “Share Your Love” requests made so far, Feeding South Dakota says it will fill stomachs throughout KELOLAND, while also sharing love to the one you admire.

"That's a significant number of children we're making sure have a bag of food through this program and we are so grateful that the community has been responsive in helping us," DeGraff said.
