Feeding South Dakota has been hard at work raising awareness of hunger issues in the state, and they wrap up their month of activities with a movie day at the Orpheum Theater.
Families were notified through Feeding South Dakota's BackPack Program of a family-fun event at the Orpheum, a double feature of "Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs" and "The Hunger Games."
Organizers are using this event as a thank you to everyone who has helped address the issue of hunger in South Dakota, and while these movies are fun for everyone, there is a reason why they were shown.
"People will start to think about and understand that hunger does, of course, exist and whether you show it in a fun film or a fun family-friendly way, I think everyone can think seriously that this issue is real in our community and hopefully also think about ways that they can get involved and make a difference." Kerri DeGraff with Feeding South Dakota said.
People going to the movies were able to make a donation to Feeding South Dakota on their way into the theater.
