Feeding South Dakota helps feed the need for those who are going hungry by developing hunger solutions in communities throughout the state. They give food to needy families, and they get a good amount of that food through donations. Feeding South Dakota distributes food directly to those who need it or through other food banks in South Dakota.
Just last year, Feeding South Dakota distributed 12.5 million pounds of food in the fight against hunger. But they can not do it without help from the community.
Feeding South Dakota asks people to help by giving food donations, money donations or donating their own time. With every dollar donated to Feeding South Dakota, they can provide five meals to families in need. With one in five kids at risk of going hungry in our state, the need for food is necessary.
On September 3, KELO News will show "Hunger: Feeding the Need.” It is a KELOLAND News Special Report. At 6:30 pm, KELO will introduce you to people of all ages from all corners of the state that need food.
