Fire crews are making progress on the Dakota fire near Sheridan Lake.
Thursday's favorable weather conditions are helping fire crews keep control lines in place.
The ‘flare-ups’ and smoke that are being seen are the result of crews using fire as a tool to strengthen control lines and reduce the possibility of the fire escaping.
A Type II Incident Management Team was called in Wednesday night.
The Dakota fire has burned about 300 acres and is 30 percent contained.
