The father killed in a one vehicle crash on Interstate 90 Saturday night worked at Avera.
52-year-old Jim Vollmer along with his wife Julie and two of their children, 16-year-old Alyssa and 13-year-old Caleb were in a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac when it lost control and rolled.
Jim, Alyssa and Caleb died at the scene of the crash. Julie was taken to a local hospital, but died from her injuries.
Avera McKennan director of communications Lindsey Meyers says Jim worked at Avera Behavioral Heath.
Avera released this statement:
We are deeply saddened at the loss of Jim Vollmer. Jim was an outstanding staff member of Avera Behavioral Health. Our sincere condolences go out to the family.
The Vollmers leaves behind a daughter, Brittany, who was away at college during the crash.
