Fatal Car Crash North Of Flandreau

Two people are dead and another seriously injured after a one-vehicle crash north of Flandreau this morning.

Shortly after 7 a-m, authorities say a car travelling north on Interstate 29 lost control and skidded near mile marker 116.

The vehicle struck the east-side bridge guard rail, spun and landed on the shoulder of the road below the bridge.

Two women were thrown from the vehicle, while the third remained inside.

One of the persons thrown from the car and the person inside the vehicle died at the scene. The 3rd person was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital.

None of the three were wearing seatbelts and no names have been released. South Dakota Highway Patrol is still investigating.
