HARTFORD, SD -
While farmers are racing against the clock to finish their harvest, they're also taking time to help others.
At a farm south of Hartford, neighbors have come together to help Jeff Rechtenbaugh. Doctors recently found a tumor on Rechtenbaugh's only working kidney. Now instead of being in the field, he's at the hospital undergoing dialysis.
"It means a lot. Get this crop out before the weather turns bad. Some of these guys still have their crops in but they still came over and helped here," Jeff's dad, Herb Rechtenbaugh, said.
Jeff Rechtenbaugh has 400 acres of cropland. As of Monday afternoon, neighbors only had 50 acres left to harvest.
