Fargo Company Expanding To Brookings

Fargo Company Expanding To Brookings

By the end of the year, Brookings will receive 125 new jobs from a Fargo company's expansion.

Discovery Benefits is a third party employee benefits administration and claims management firm. The company will set up a temporary workplace in the Innovation Center of the Research Park at SDSU in September, while it decides where to locate permanently in the research park.

Discovery Benefits has added more than 250 employees to its workforce in recent years and has experienced a 105 percent growth in revenue during the same timeframe. In addition to opening a new facility in Brookings, the company is in the process of expanding its headquarters in Fargo.

“The growing population of the area combined with the supportive business climate makes Brookings a prime location for our new facility,” John Biwer, president of Discovery Benefits, said. “An additional office location in the Midwest will allow us to continue the growth we have been experiencing as a company while remaining one of the leading benefits administration companies in the nation.”

Initally, Discovery Benefits plans to hire 20 to 30 full and part-time employees in Brookings, and later hopes to hire 125 over the next year. Positions are already listed on its website.

Earlier this month, the company was approved for a Workforce Development Grant from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, which will aid in providing workforce and internship training.
