Family Speaks About Loss At Candlelight Vigil

Family Speaks About Loss At Candlelight Vigil
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

For the first time, the parents of the two girls and teen boy who died in a house fire speak out about their loss.

On Sunday, at a candlelight vigil outside of their charred two-story home, the Whites thank the community for support as they mourn the loss 16-year-old Michael Hensely, 12-year-old Savannah Coon and six-year-old Alivia Coon.

The house caught fire at 1100 N. Main Street and grew so hot, so fast that firefighters couldn't rescue the children.

“It took probably from the time we woke up until he came out, eight minutes, for everything to go. That fast, that quick, in a blink of an eye. There’s no time for anything. No time to grab my pocketbook, I jumped out the window in a tank top,” parent Rhiannan White said.

The parents were just released from the hospital Sunday evening, after getting hurt in the fire.

Batallion 3 Rescue officials say the case has been turned over to the fire investigations bureau to find out exactly what caused the fire to break out. Because of the extensive damage, officials say they are having a problem securing the area.
