Police in Sioux Falls have seen some phony money floating around town.
More than $200 in counterfeit bills were passed in Sioux Falls over the weekend and police believe more of the fake bills will be showing up.
In all of the cases, fake $20 bills were used. Sears and Piercing Pagoda are two stores at the Empire Mall where the counterfeit bills were passed. Police say a cab driver, McDonald's restaurant and at least one hotel also received the fake $20s.
Police say the counterfeit bills are just photocopies of a $20 bill and pretty easy to identify. With a low-dollar counterfeiting operation like photocopying, a person can easily spot a fake by how the paper of the bill feels and also its color is usually a little off with photocopies.
Police are questioning a suspect and think charges could be filed as early as Monday afternoon.
