SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The Sioux Falls city council heard from the company that will manage the events center project during a monthly update Monday afternoon.
Mortenson Construction is ranked number two as a builder of events centers and arenas in the country. The company has been a part of a number of projects including Target Field, TCF Bank Stadium and Coors Field. While the company is based out of Minneapolis, the general superintendent of this project is from Sioux Falls and is said to be excited to play a role in bringing a new events center to the city.
There's still discussion about where an events center should be built in Sioux Falls. Director of Public Works Mark Cotter told the council that a feasible site in downtown will be picked by the end of February. Mayor Mike Huether is pushing to build at the current Arena site. An analysis of both locations is expected to be done in mid-April.
