September 7, 2011, 5:19 PM
SIOUX FALLS, SD -
A group campaigning to build an events center in Sioux Falls raised $10,700 in cash in its first month.
Campaign finance records filed with the city also show local businesses donated $42,500 in goods or services to the Build it Now campaign.
The filing says Sanford Health donated the most of any business with $15,000 for in-kind donations. The money went to a website and consulting fees.
Voters will decide in a special election on Nov. 8 whether to spend $115 million on the construction of an events center. If approved, the 12,000-seat facility would be used for sporting events, concerts and as extra floor space for the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
