Stock prices ended mixed, after being lower for most of the session. The Dow fell 37 points to 11,637. The S&P was down 2 points, while the Nasdaq gained nearly 5 points.
- Alcoa reports fourth-quarter earnings surged on higher sales of aluminum products as manufacturing increased across a broad range of businesses from automobiles to consumer products. The gain of 24 cents a share topped analyst estimates.
- The chief executive of chip-maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. has resigned. AMD describes the resignation of CEO Dirk Meyer as "mutual" and effective immediately.
- American Airlines is suing Sabre to stop the company from downplaying American flights in displays that it provides to travel agents. American says if Sabre is allowed to favor other airlines in data searches, it will cost American "countless sales."
- Intel has agreed to pay $1.5 billion over five years to Nvidia to settle a lawsuit over a key computer technology. Nvidia shares have risen in after-hours trading.
