You might see a lot of hard hats at Eugene Field Elementary, but they're on the heads of the students.
Overlooking a sea of yellow, the principal welcomed back kids on the first day of school.
They were given hard hats to tie in with the construction at the school. Students learned safety policies and what to expect as crews add new features to the building.
"We will be the only school in town that has a dance studio; that's part of our curriculum here at Eugene Field Elementary. We're just excited to picture kids in those great spaces," Eugene Field Principal Ann Marie Davis said.
The latest addition at Eugene Field will add 12 new classrooms, a new library and office for just under $6 million.
Brady Mallory finds out what the students have to say, later on KELOLAND News.
